Lonely

I MISS BYU!!!!!

Columbia is soooooo boring. I have two close friends here at the moment because they're in high school, but that also means that they have school every day. Alas. Although I just got a job at Steak 'n Shake, which is pleasant. The manager hired me on the spot because I'm just that awesome. I'm scared. Will I learn everything fast enough? Will people get made at me? Can I count money? Oh the worries of this life....

Conference Weekend

Wow. This has been such an epic weekend. We got up at the crack of dawn on Friday to meet my parents in American Fork where they have been staying with my grandparents and drove a ways to get to Solitude where we spent the day skiing. Lauren and Hannah had never been skiing, so it was an interesting time involving a lot of falling and ski popping offage. We also met up with the Hainsworths by chance (although we have run into them every year for the past five while skiing...), a family from my home ward, in the afternoon.
Conference weekend was AMAZING! We (Miah, Lauren, Shay, Logan, and I) drove to Salt Lake. As soon as we got there, Mark met us and gave us a great parking pass for the museum parking lot, like as close as you can possibly park. Then we went up to his Dad’s office and ate a little bit. On our way out we met Elder Nelson and his family and said “hi” to President Monson’s daughter. We walked over to the conference center and finally made it inside. We walked all the way down to the bottom where the ropes for reserved seats are and got ready to sit down when the usher looked at our tickets and told us to keep going down, so we did. Then we thought we were going to sit down again, but the next usher looked at our tickets and pulled aside another rope for us. We knew out tickets were really good, but not that good! We were slightly to the left of the podium in the fifth row, right behind the wives and right next to the new general authorities we realized as they stood up and walked to the stand when Uchtdorf announced them. The talks were great, particularly Elder Holland’s, obviously. It was really entertaining seeing a lot of the General Authorities falling asleep, particularly the Prophet (we could see all of them really clearly). The most exciting part of the meeting, though, was when we were singing “We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet.” I was smiling and staring at the Prophet and then he looked over and smiled and winked really big! Logan and I looked at each other and were like “Oh my gosh! Did the Prophet just wink at us?!?” And the people behind us said “Did you just see the Monson wink at them?” Yeah. The Prophet winked at me. Awesomeness.
As we were leaving conference, Ty texted Miah (he had permission from his mission president) and we met up with him and they talked for like thirty minutes.
